Abstract

1470516 Rotating loads; stacking slabs CHARCON PRODUCTS Ltd 2 April 1974 [6 April 1973] 16561/73 Headings B8H and B8C Concrete slabs 6 are individually deposited in a horizontal orientation on a platform 12 by a vacuum head 5 which traverses to and from a press (not shown) in which slabs are formed, and after receiving a slab 6 the platform 12 is rotated anti-clockwise about a horizontal axis defined by a shaft 8 so that the slab 6 is deposited in a vertical orientation on a pallet 10 located on a conveyer 9, the slab 6 being retained on the platform 12 during the rotation of the latter by means of fingers 14, and just before the platform 12 reaches its lowermost vertical position the slab 6 carried thereon contacts the pallet 10 due to the fingers 14 passing through recesses formed in the pallet support surface, and the platform 12 continues to move downwardly for a short distance to its lowermost position so that the fingers 14 move away from the lower edge of the slab, and the fingers 14 are then retracted under the edge of the platform 12 by means of a pneumatic ram 15 so that the platform 12 can be swung back to its horizontal position, and the conveyer 9 is then indexed forward by one step so that another slab 6 can be deposited on the pallet 10. The platform 12 is mounted on an arm 7 which is rotated about the axis 8 by means of a pneumatic ram 13. When the platform 12 is returned unloaded to its horizontal position a slab 6 which is located on an auxiliary platform 20 is pushed by a pneumatically operated pusher 21 on to the platform 12 for transfer to the pallet 10.
