Abstract

Acylation of the antibiotic which is known under the name XK-62-2 and has the formula A <IMAGE> in which R6 is hydrogen with a compound of the formula Y1Y2N-CH2-CH2-CHOH-COZ initially results in a mixture of various acylated compounds from which the required compound with the group <IMAGE> is isolated, and the protective group Y2 is removed before or after the isolation. The antibiotic has a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity, especially against Escherichia coli KY 8327 and 8348.
