Abstract

1470274 Stamping; rolling SETON NAME PLATE CORP 1 April 1975 13299/75 Headings B3Q and B3M [Also in Division B8] A metal informational tag with stamped colour-filled indicia has a synthetic resin film secured over the indicia by thermosetting adhesive. The indicia may be colour-filled by using a composite tape 10, Figs. 1 and 4, between a stamp 31 and a tag 50. Indicia on the stamp punch out parts of the tape during stamping, depositing them in the depressions formed. A conveyer 60 carries the tags through an infra-red heater 63 to melt the thermosetting adhesive and secure the bond. The tape 10 may comprise a polyester layer 11 over the adhesive 12 with an organic dye mixed with either layer 11 or 12. A lower layer of a pressuresensitive adhesive may be provided on the adhesive 12 and an upper layer of a release agent on the layer 11. Alternative tapes may include a layer (16) of paint, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown). The stamp is sprayed with a silicone lubricant to facilitate release of the tape. A rolling stamp may be used to impress tools such as drills and taps.
