Abstract

1470157 Electromagnetic pick-ups NORLIN MUSIC Inc 15 July 1975 [9 Jan 1975] 29677/75 Heading G5J A stringed instrument is provided with a pickup comprising a pair of spaced coils 11, 12 with axes parallel to a string 14 of the instrument, a ferromagnetic polepiece 15 spanning the space between the coils, extending into each coil and having an extension 16 towards the string, and a permanent-magnet means 17, 18 having a pole face directed towards the polepiece and directing a unipolar magnetic field into the polepiece. The assembly may be mounted on a base-plate 20 and be provided with a cover 23 having an aperture 24 to allow access to an adjustable screw 16 forming the polepiece extension. Alternatively, the assembly may be mounted in a hollow extruded plastics base, Fig. 4 (not shown). The coils 11, 12, magnets 17, 18 and polepiece 15 may be elongated transversely to the strings, a screw polepiece extension 16 being provided for each string. The coils are preferably connected together in series opposition.
