Abstract
1469361 Soldering A A OSIPOV N S PEKOV and P P SEMENOV 14 Jan 1975 1505/75 Heading B3R An apparatus for soldering conductors on a board 4 comprises a housing 1 having a table 3 for receiving the board 4, a stationary guide 6 secured in the housing parallel to the table, a carriage 7 movably mounted on the guide, a drive for moving the carriage along the guide, a rod 12 arranged in the carriage for movement in a direction perpendicular to the movement of the carriage, a soldering head 15 mounted in a holder 14 at the end of the rod with a wedging member 16 for holding the head in a desired position in the holder and a locking means 13 for fixing the position of the rod in the carriage. In an embodiment the carriage is connected to a cable 8 passing over rollers 9 at the end of the guide and is driven by a drum 10 of a mechanism 11. The locking means 13 has a solenoid operated pawl 19 engageable with holes 18 in a strip 17 on the rod 12, the holes being spaced at a distance equal to that between rows of microcircuits 5 on the board 4. The soldering head has two tips 23 carried on arms 24 having limited movement vertically and the head is biased upwardly by a spring 25 its position being determined by the wedge 16. In operation the board is placed on the table 3 and the wedge 16 is pressed to actuate a switch 29 which deenergizes the solenoid of the pawl 19 allowing the latter to rise above the strip 17 and the head 15 is raised by the spring 25. The soldering head is positioned manually above the first microcircuit 5 and the wedge is released. The solenoid of the pawl is energized and the pawl engages a hole 18 and then the head 15 is manually lowered in its holder 14 until it reaches a stop 26; the tips 23 being then slightly above the board 4. The drive 11 is energized and simultaneously an electromagnet in the head 15 releases the arms 24 to allow the heated tips 23 to solder the microcircuit terminals as they traverse the board.
