Abstract
1469333 Mixing and agitating fluids ITT INDUSTRIES INC 11 April 1974 [19 April 1973] 16220/74 Heading B1C [Also in Division F4] Unwanted water is got rid of by entraining it in an air stream. The entrainment means forms part of a self-contained air conditioner of the kind having an internal cooling heat exchanger, an outside condenser heat exchanger and means respectively blowing an internal and an outside air stream each over its respective heat exchanger. The unwanted water is water which has condensed on the cooling heat exchanger. The water collects in a drip tray, is delivered to a sump, and from there is entrained into the outside air stream and directed upon the condenser heat exchanger where evaporation into the atmosphere takes place. Fig. 1 shows a side view of the outside heat exchanger 18 with a centrifugal blower 11 blowing an air stream 14 thereover. The water 16 has collected in a sump area 34 next to the wall 17 of the blower 11. A device 15 enables the water to be entrained in the air stream 14. Figs. 3 and 4 show front and plan views of the device 15. The device 15 comprises a tube 22 which projects into the air stream 14. The angle of the tube opening 26 relative to the air stream 14 causes aspiration through the tube. The device 15 also includes a vane 24 which diverts some of the air from stream 14 through an opening 35 into the water. In addition, air flow 36, Fig. 3, derived from ambient air enters the device 15 through apertures 25 beneath lower edges of side walls 23 of the device. The air flowing through opening 35 and apertures 25 entrains water droplets. The resultant air stream 27 is ejected into the air stream 14.
