1469041 Kick starters for motor assisted bicycles STEYR-DAIMLER-PUCH AG 6 Feb 1975 [12 Feb 1974] 5169/75 Heading F1K In a kick starter and pedal drive mechanism for motor assisted bicycles, which comprises a pedal crank-shaft 1, which can be fixed in position, a transmission is provided which includes an overrunning clutch 21 and is connected between the pedal crank-shaft and a change speed transmission 19 succeeding the engine. A kick starter lever 9 is non-rotatably connected to an intermediate shaft 8 and a pinion 7 is freely rotatably mounted on the intermediate shaft and in mesh with a gear 6 fixed to the pedal crank-shaft. A wheel, preferably a sprocket wheel 1, 10 is freely rotatably and axially slidably mounted on the intermediate shaft 8 and is operatively connected to the change speed transmission 19 and the wheel is adapted to be coupled selectively to the pinion or to the intermediate shaft which is biased by a spring 23 tending to impart reverse rotation, thereto. The drive 16 may be a chain or a ribbed belt.
