Abstract

1468785 Tilting cab mechanisms MAGIRUS DEUTZ AG 15 April 1975 [24 April 1974] 15452/75 Heading B7B A cab pivotally mounted for tilting about an axis 4 on a frame 5 is moved by a mechanism 6 comprising a spring element, such as a torsion bar 10 or helical spring, and an actuator 7. The torsion bar extends along axis 4 and has a normally arranged pivot arm 11 at one end which is pivoted at 9 to the actuator. The other end of the torsion bar is connected to the frame and actuator 7 is pivoted to the cab, however, this arrangement may be reversed (Fig. 5, not shown) so that the bar is connected to the cab and the actuator to the frame. On initial elongation of actuator 7 the bar is stressed as arm 11 moves through angle α until the weight torque of the cab about axis is balanced. Further extension of the actuator then tilts the cab and when the centre of gravity is above axis the arm 11 is back at its original position. On further tilting the torsion bar is stressed in the opposite direction as arm 11 turns through angle γ. A stabilizer bar (24) (Fig. 6, not shown) may be provided to prevent lateral tipping of the cab and may act as a housing for the torsion bar.
