Abstract
1468516 Corner reflectors DEFENCE SEC OF STATE FOR 5 Sept 1974 [23 July 1973] 35039/73 Heading H4A A rotating corner cube reflector assembly, comprises primarily a large corner reflector, surfaces 28, 30, 32 which is approximately the largest that shrouding 10 can contain, occupying the interior of a cylindrical (or spherical) transparent shrouding 10, mounted rotatably on an axle 18, and having wind-vanes 22, 24 &c. several other smaller corner reflectors (Fig. 3, not shown) are accommodated in the space not occupied by the large reflector within shrouding 10. A total of 10 it is said may be present, arranged to reflect radiation in directions not covered by the main reflector. The reflectors and shrouding are constituted from laminar ABS and the reflective surfaces from adhesively applied aluminium foil. In other embodiments, PVC may be used, the reflective surfaces being a mesh of thin wires embedded therein, alternatively the reflecting surfaces, may be corrugated for use at X-band frequencies, or may be constituted by parallel wires spaced a wavelength apart and equal in length to a whole number of wavelengths. The interstices between the shrouding and reflectors may be filled with light-weight foam, e.g. polyurethane.
