1468420 Separating hydrocarbons from water P PREUS 20 Dec 1974 55288/74 Heading C1C Compositions for separating hydrocarbons from water comprise a loose mass of expanded perlite, asphalt and a fibrous filler having fibres at least # inch in length. The composition is distributed on to the surface of the hydrocarbonwater mixture, adsorbs the hydrocarbon and is collected. It may also be confined in containers permeable to liquid flow for treating for example oily discharges. The compositions may also include clays and are prepared by forming an aqueous mix of the ingredients, drying and comminuting.
