Abstract
1467321 Carbon disulphide FMC CORP 25 April 1974 [30 April 1973] 18188/74 Heading C1A Carbon disulphide is produced continuously by feeding an inner hydrocarbon gas stream cocurrently with an outer sulphur vapour stream to react with it to form carbon disulphide, the cross-section of the sulphur vapour stream being locally decreased at the zone where it is brought into contact with the gas stream so as to form a converging sulphur stream, raise the velocity of the sulphur vapour stream and increase the fuse ratio of the sulphur vapour stream to the gas stream. The fuse ratio is defined as MoVo/MiVi where Mo and Mi are the mass rates of flow of the outer and inner streams respectively and Vo and Vi are the respective linear velocities of the streams.
