1467128 Vehicle stabilizers RUSTON BUCYRUS Ltd 10 March 1975 [16 May 1974] 9926/75 Heading B7J An extensible outrigger assembly for a truck crane 1 comprises an extensible beam assembly 3 carrying a vertical ram 6 of which the rod 9 is pivotally connected at a pin 10 to a groundengageable foot 7, extension of the ram rod 9 allowing the foot to assume the working position of Fig. 3 in which its ground engaging surface is horizontal, but retraction of the ram rod causing cam follower plates 13 which are bolted to the pin 10 to ride along a camming member 14 on the end of the extensible beam assembly so that the foot is rotated about the pin 10 to the storage position shown in Fig. 1 in which the groundengaging surface is vertical. During such movements, the foot 7 and cam plates 13 are maintained in their normal relative positions by torsion springs 15 each having one end abutting a stop 16 carried by the associated plate 13 and another end abutting a stop 17 upstanding from the foot 7. If the foot 7 encounters an obstruction while in its storage position, such as during extension of the beam assembly 3, it may be pivoted out of the vertical against the bias of the springs 15 without causing movement of the plates 13, until the obstruction has been cleared upon which the foot is returned to its normal position relative to the plates by the springs.
