Abstract
1466797 Seals L H H BJERVIG 11 April 1974 [16 April 1973 27 Nov 1973] 16318/74 Heading F2B [Also in Divisions B8 and E1] A seal for the gap between a goods entrance 16 and the rear door of a delivery van comprises a flexible, airtight skin 26 secured in a channel member 23 and is held distended so as to protrude from the channel by a compressible resilient material (e.g. foam 25), the skin being collapsible into the channel (to release the seal) by means of a suction unit. The seal may be secured around the periphery of a van's rear door, Fig. 1 (not shown). Alternatively, the seal 22 is secured around the periphery of a rectangular, hollow frame 18 mounted for limited vertical and lateral movement on a casing 15 surrounding the goods entrance 16. A similar seal 27 is disposed so as to seal the gap between the frame 18 and the casing 15. The seals 22, 27 are evacuated through hollow bolts 31 to the frame 18. A perforated guard 35, 34 prevents the foam 25 from blocking the bolts 31. Guides 37 guide the seal into the van's open rear door. A hinged ramp may span the seal between the goods ramp may span the seal between the goods entrance and the van.
