1466573 Automatic control of film processing chemicals LOGETRONICS Inc 7 March 1974 10365/74 Heading G3N A film processor includes a control circuit for controlling the supply of fresh developer to the processor in accordance with the total area of image processed and its density. In the apparatus shown in Fig. 1 a photo-electric arrangement senses the area and density of black on the film as it passes from the wash tank to the drier and an integrator in the control circuit integrates this signal either until it reaches a predetermined level or for a given time and the valve 1 is opened to supply fresh chemical to the developer tank. The circuit shown in Fig. 4 allows the sensor signal to be integrated for a time determined by timer 22 and then the control relay 24 operates to additionally connect the reference supply 25 to the integrator which causes the integrator output to fall until the outputs of level detectors 16, 20 are the same so relay 18 operates to short circuit the integrating capacitor which zeroes the integrator and resets the system. The control relay 24 also operates contacts 28 to operate valve 1 controlling the supply of fresh chemical. In the operation of this control circuit the control relay will be closed for a time which depends on the level of integrator output when the set time expires and is extended when there is a sensed signal present.
