Abstract

1465970 Mounting piezoeiectric resonators DAINI SEIKOSHA KK 19 Sept 1974 40965/74 Heading H1E Pedestals are used to support both a piezoelectric or electrostrictive resonator and its lead pins. As shown, an elongated, laminar resonator 10 is supported upon an insulative pedestal 31 and secured thereto by a layer 32 of adhesive, e.g. raw rubber. Electrodes 15, 26 on both surfaces have cantilever extensions 22, 30 the ends of which are supported upon further pedestals comprising pins 33, 34 insulative pillars 28, 29 and conductive caps 18, 19. The lower electrode 26 may be without extension 30 and the lead pin for this electrode may then extend through the pedestal 31 (see Fig. 3, not shown). In another modification (Fig. 5, not shown), the resonator bears electrodes on its upper surface only. A modification is described (Fig. 6, not shown) in which the cantilever extensions of the electrodes project to either side of the resonator. The resonator may be made of quartz, barium titanate, lithium niobate or lead zirconate and is disclosed as a flexural oscillator of the tuning-fork type having either two or three tines. The drawings show typical electrode patterns for a three-tine fork in which the central tine oscillates in phase opposition to the outer tines.
