Abstract

1465967 Dielectric fluids NISSIN ELECTRIC CO Ltd 3 July 1974 [19 July 1973 8 May 1974] 29505/74 Heading C5F [Also in Division H1] An insulating liquid composition for impregnating a capacitor wherein the dielectric includes plastics film comprises one or more orthophosphoric esters having three or four benzene rings per molecule and 10 to 60% by volume of one or more aromatic hydrocarbons. Esters specified are trixylenyl phosphate, tricresyl phosphate, cresyldiphenyl phosphate and diphenylorthoxenyl phosphate. The hydrocarbon may be alkylnaphthalene, a diarylalkene or alkylbenzene. The capacitor may be wound from aluminium foil strips and polypropylene strips and optionally paper. Among the stated advantages are that the liquid is ecologically acceptable and substantially non- combustible.
