1465934 Improving the dispersibility of cellulose ethers HERCULES Inc 13 Aug 1975 [14 Aug 1974] 35750/74 Heading C3A A cellulose ether is made easier to disperse in aqueous liquids having a pH above 10 by treating it in particulate form with boric acid or a water-soluble borate in the presence of a solvent for the reagent, removing the solvent and drying the residue. Preferably the ether is also treated with a dialdehyde, e.g. glyoxal. The ether used in the examples is hydroxyethyl cellulose.
