Abstract

1465094 Loud-speakers H PEIKER 9 July 1974 [19 July 1973] 30457/74 Heading H4J In a dynamic loud-speaker substantially limited to the speech frequency range only, connections 7 are provided between the ends 6 of the voice coil and flexible connecting leads 5 (e.g. stranded or fine spiral leads) and these connections 7 are attached to the diaphragm 3. The loud-speaker enclosure 8 to the rear of the diaphragm 3 is connected to the outside air through apertures 14 in a wall 9 of the enclosure 8. These apertures 14 are of such a size and number that the cut-off frequency of the low pass filter formed by the rear enclosure 8 and the apertures 14 lies immediately below the speech frequency range. The arrangement makes unlikely breakage of the voice coil wire in the vicinity of the connection after prolonged use. The leads 5 connect to soldering lugs 4 on the chassis 2. Lacquer seals a hole in the diaphragm 3 at the connections 7. The enclosure 8 is cylindrical and the apertures 14 are in a circular array arranged symmetrically with respect to the diaphragm 3. The front end of the enclosure 8 has a screw cap 11 having apertures (not shown) for emission of sound. The magnet system 1 is mounted between two strip-shaped projections 12.
