Abstract

1464918 Emulsion concentrate for textiles HOECHST AG 20 March 1974 [20 March 1973] 12298/74 Heading A5E A composition for treating textiles comprises no more than 30% by wt. of a triphenyl tin compound, Sn(C6H5)3X, where X is an anion and at least 20% by wt. of an aryl or alkyl - aryl - polyglycol ether, (R') (R") (R"') Y-O-(C2H4O)mH, in which R', R" and R"', any two or more of which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a branched or unbranched alkyl or alkenyl radical, Y represents a phenyl or naphthyl radical and m represents a number from 2-30, with optionally no more than 50% by wt. of a non-ionic surface active addition compound of ethylene oxide and an aliphatic compound with at least one active hydrogen atom. A solubiliser comprising a compound of the formula R-O-(C2H4O)x-H wherein R is an alkyl group with 1-4C atoms and x is 1 or 2 may also be added. Preferred tin compounds are triphenyl tin chloride, bromide, hydroxide and acetate. Especially suitable aryl and alkyl aryl polyglycol ethers are mono-, di- and trialkyl aryl polyglycol ethers, the alkyl radicals R', R" and R'" of which together have no more than 20 carbon atoms and which preferably contain 1-15 ethoxy groups in the molecule, e.g. n-butyl phenol octaethylene-glycolether. Examples of the compounds with mobile hydrogen atoms which are reacted with ethylene oxide to form surface active compounds include alkanols and alkenols with 8-20 carbon atoms, diols and polyols, primary, secondary, saturated and unsaturated aliphatic mono, di or triamines having up to 22 carbon atoms and aliphatic mono or di carboxylic acids or their derivatives having 8-20 carbon atoms.
