Abstract

1464877 Calcium carbonate composition IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 April 1974 [7 May 1973] 21557/73 Heading C1A [Also in Division C3] A calcium carbonate composition (suitable for incorporation into homopolymers or copolymers of vinyl chloride) is formed by compounding an acid or acid anhydride which melts at 75-300‹ C. with calcium carbonate having a particle size of less than 200 millimicrons, the compounding being performed at below the melting point of the said acid or said anhydride. Suitable acids or acid anhydrides are phthalic acid, phthalic anhydride, adipic acid, benzoic acid, orthoboric acid and metaboric acid which are suitably used in an amount 0À5-5% by weight of the calcium carbonate.
