Abstract

1464738 Electronically tuned amplifiers SCHRADER ELECTRONICA NV 23 Sept 1974 [21 Sept 1973] 41252/74 Headings H3Q and H3T In an amplifier stage a tuned circuit 6, has a primary winding 5 connected to a variable capacity tuning diode 8 to which a tuning voltage 13 supplied and a secondary winding 20 connected in series with the capacitance 22 between the base and emitter of an earthed base transistor 21 and the junction of the emitter and the secondary winding 20 is connected through a capacitance 60 to a second variable capacity diode 61 to which the tuning voltage 13 is supplied such that the capacities of the two diode 8 and 61 vary simultaneously in the same sense. As shown in Fig. 1 a first transistor stage 21 is in cascade with a second transistor stage 40 and can be used for amplifying T.V. signals from an aerial. Variation of the capacities at the emitters of the transistors 21 and 40 by variable capacity diodes 61 and 64 in the same sense as the changes in capacities of the tuning diodes 8, 35 and 46 provides a more uniform gain as a function of the signal frequency (curve B, Fig. 2, not shown), and also improves the gain for lower signal frequencies which results in an improved signal to noise ratio.
