Abstract
1464266 Rotational casting K BEYEROLSEN and O STEFFENSSEN 12 Dec 1974 [14 Dec 1973] 53857/74 Heading B5A A moulding machine, e.g. a rotational moulding machine, includes a mould in two separable parts and a device for removing the moulded article therefrom, such device including a pair of opposed gripping members located adjacent the mould which grip the article when the mould parts are separated slightly and continue to grip the article as the parts move further apart to clear the article whereupon the gripping members carry the article to a discharge position. The rotational moulding machine of Fig. 1 includes two sets of moulds, four in each set, in a framework 2, 3 such that one set at station A being opened for article removal and supplied with a further charge of moulding material, the other set at station B is subjected to rotation about two axes at right angles. The sets are supported on shafts 8 and 10 attached to a shaft 4 rotatable about its axis by cylinders 5 to transfer the sets from one station to the other. At station B the moulds rotate about their axes and about the axis of shaft 8. The mould halves 18a, 18b, Fig. 6, are supported on pivotable arms 14 and, when at station A, such halves are straddled by gripping members 36, 38, Fig. 4, on arms 34, 32 respectively attached to beams 30, 28. The latter are reciprocable by cylinders 40, 42 to bring the members into contact with the article. The removal device is pivoted at 26 on the machine frame to swing about 180 degrees to bring the articles to a discharge position.
