Abstract

1464007 Regeneration of ion exchange resins DYNAMIT NOBEL AG 23 April 1974 17805/ 74 Heading B1J Cation and anion exchange resins used for extracting one or more salts from aqueous solution are regenerated employing a spent regenerating agent from one resin to pretreat another resin prior to its regeneration, the pretreatment being effected by substantially complete displacement of adsorbed ions by ions of like charge sign of the spent regenerating agent to produce a first solution containing substantially the total amount of ions originally extracted from the aqueous solution by both resins and excess regenerating agent, and using a different regenerating agent to regenerate the pretreated resin to produce a second solution separate from the first containing substantially only a salt obtained from the regenerating agents and excess regenerating agent.
