Abstract

1462821 Vehicle sliding roofs KAROSSERIEWERKE WEINSBERG GmbH 19 Feb 1974 [19 Feb 1973] 7626/74 Heading B7B In a vehicle roof frame 10 in which a sliding lid 2 is liftedto be flush with the roof cut out, guide pieces 15 which slide on rails 11 are adjustably mounted on holders fixed to the lid 2. As shown in Fig. 1 the holders consist of threaded pins 12 fixed vertically on lid 2 and received in a tapped bore in rotational guide pieces 15 formed as slotted rollers. The guide pieces 15 may be rotated by hand or by a flexible traction element. In another embodiment, Fig. 5, the guide piece 22 enters by its radial rim 24 into a guide rail 11d. The guide piece 22 has on its hub a serration 25 for manual rotation or rotation by a flexible traction element. In the alternative embodiment shown in Fig. 7 a rectangular slide piece 18 has a slot shaped recess 19 into which a slotted roller 15 is pushed. The slide piece 18 has a recess 21 into which the guide rail 11b enters. At the opposite face the slide piece 18 is covered by the serrated rims 17 of roller 15 which is rotated to adjust the height of the lid 2 in the roof plane. In the embodiment of Fig. 9, holder 26 has a slot 31 for receiving rim 29 of slide piece 28 and the holder has a rim 32 which enters guide rail 11f. The slide piece 28 extends by a rib 33 into another guide rail 11e stamped in lid frame 10. An alternative design, Fig. 12, includes slide piece 35 with a recess 34 pushed onto roller 37, the slide piece having a bore 39 for receiving a set screw 41 which engages by its thread 40 with a profiled rim 42 of the roller 37. Instead of set screw 41, a teleflex cable 52, Fig. 13 can be employed to engage the roller. The lid 2 may be lifted at its rear end beyond the closed position flush with the roof cut out to an uppermost ventilating position. In this case, Fig. 17, a clamping cut out 58 of a toothed rack 57a received in recess 56 of slide piece 45 can be disengaged from slotted roller 48 by abutment of rack 57a with a fixed stop 11h when the lid 2 reaches the closed position after sliding. After disengagement, the rack 57a meshes with the teeth of roller 48 to raise the lid 2 into the ventilating position. In a further modification Fig. 22 the slide piece 45 is fixed to lid 2 by a tensioned steel clamp 551 which is fixed to tray 6 of lid 2. The slider 45 shown in Fig. 13 has a blind bore for receiving a crank pin 60 on crank shaft 61. A strap connected to an operating mechanism Fig 20, 21 (not shown) displaces the crank shaft in known manner to cause the pin 60 to raise the rear end of the roof panel into a ventilating position displaced upwardly from the roof opening. Fig. 19 shows a one piece torsion spring 77 which applies force to a transverse strip 69 interconnected with the roof panel and serving to hold a cloth cover of the panel taut. The spring in addition cooperates with the guide to guide the roof panel therealong and biases the panel downwards when closed.
