Abstract

1462670 1,3,5-Triazine derivatives CHEVRON RESEARCH CO 30 Dec 1974 [2 Jan 1974] 56075/74 Heading C2C Novel compounds of Formula I wherein X is F, Cl, Br, C 1-4 alkoxy or C 1-4 alkylthio; R is hydrogen or C 1-4 alkyl; R<SP>1</SP> is C 1-4 alkyl; R<SP>2</SP> is C 1-4 alkyl; R<SP>3</SP> is C 1-6 alkyl, C 2-6 alkenyl, C 3-8 cycloalkyl or C 6-12 carbocyclic mono- or binuclear aryl optionally substituted by up to two substituents selected from F, Cl, Br, CF 3 , NO 2 , C 1-4 alkyl and C 1-4 alkoxy and Y is oxygen or sulphur are prepared by reacting a compound of Formula II with a compound of formula in an inert liquid diluent and in the presence of an acid acceptor. The compounds of Formula II are themselves obtained by reacting a corresponding triazine of Formula IV with SCl 2 in the presence of an acid acceptor. The compounds of Formula I are herbicides.
