Abstract

1416123 N-chlorothio ureas CHEVRON RESEARCH CO 13 March 1974 11284/74 Heading C2C N-chlorothio ureas of general formula in which R and R<SP>1</SP>, same or different, are each H, C 1-6 alkyl, C 1-4 alkoxy, C 3-10 cycloalkyl, C 6-10 aryl optionally substituted by 1-4 substituents selected from F, Cl, Br, CF 3 , CCl 3 , NO 2 and C 1-4 alkoxy groups and R<SP>2</SP> is H, are prepared by reacting a compound of formula R<SP>1</SP>(R<SP>2</SP>)N-CO-NHR with SCl 2 in the presence of an acid acceptor. Radical R is preferably methyl or ethyl and R<SP>1</SP> is preferably phenyl or phenyl substituted by 1 or 2 F, Cl, CF 3 , NO 2 , CH 3 , C 2 H 5 , CH 3 O or C 2 H 5 O groups. In the examples N-chlorothio-N- methyl - N<SP>1</SP> - (2 - fluorophenyl)urea and N - chlorothio - N - methyl - N<SP>1</SP> - 3,4 - dichlorophenyl urea are prepared. N-Dithio-substituted ureas of general formula where R<SP>3</SP> is an optionally substituted hydrocarbon group are prepared by reacting the N-clilorothio ureas of Formula I with R 3 SH in the presence of an acid acceptor. Amongst numerous examples N-methyl-N-cyclohexyldithio-N<SP>1</SP>-o-fluorophenyl urea is prepared.
