Steering-gear.-A trailer is fitted with steering-mechanism at each end connected with a coupling-member which can be looked in a central position and is connected to the steering mechanism by links . and an equalizer to permit play of the trailer springs. The coupling is connected to the tractor by a rod fitted with a spring coupling. The member comprises a pair of channel members 9, Fig. 2, and end members 19, 20 pivoted at 8 to a transverse member 2 on the spring-mounted frame of the trailer and carrying a pivoted equalizer 14 the ends of which are connected by rods 13 to the spindle arms 11 of the steering-mechanism; the rods 13 are fitted with ball-and-socket joints and the members 19, 20 may be extended to carry the equalizer &c. to the rear of the frame member 2. The coupling can be locked by means of a pivoted fork member 24 which is normally pressed into its engaging position by a spring 26 and can be raised out of engagement by a rod 28 passing through a spring and fitted with a pin 30 engaging a fixed catch 32. The members 9 embrace a sliding member 10 connected thereto by a bolt 62 passing through an aperture between webs 68 secured to the members 9, springs 63, 64 being fitted on the bolt.
