1461806 Thioureas JOHN WYETH & BRO Ltd 26 Feb 1975 [5 March 1974] 9765/74 Heading C2C Novel compounds (I) (including salts thereof) wherein R is hydrogen, C 1-6 alkyl, aryl C 1-6 alkyl or an alkylene chain of from 3 to 5 carbon atoms joining two adjacent carbon atoms to form a hydrocarbon ring of 5 to 7 carbon atoms, R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are selected from hydrogen, C 1-6 alkyl and aryl C 1-6 alkyl, R<SP>3</SP> is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 3 carbon atoms which may be substituted by dialkylamino, or phenyl alkyl wherein the alkyl portion contains 1 to 3 carbon atoms, acyl or Si(R<SP>4</SP>) x (NCS) 3-x , where x is 0, 1, 2 or 3 and R<SP>4</SP> is an alkyl, aryl or aralkyl radical or (R<SP>4</SP>) x is any mixture of these and X is CH or N, are made by reacting (II) with R<SP>3</SP>NCS {R<SP>3</SP> is other than H or Si(R<SP>4</SP>) x (NCS) 3-x } or with (R<SP>4</SP>) x Si(NCS) 4-x , and, if appropriate, hydrolysing a product obtained to give (I) where R<SP>3</SP> is H. Pharmaceutical preparations having antiulcer and anti-secretory action contain (I) {where R<SP>3</SP> is other than acyl and Si(R<SP>4</SP>) x (NCS) 3-x } as active ingredient. Administration is orally.
