Abstract

1461605 Recording video signals TED BILDPLATTEN AG AEG TELEFUNKEN TELDEC 25 March 1974 [27 March 1973 2 Feb 1974 (2)] 13114/74 Heading G5R In a laser arrangement for recording video signals on a disc shaped record carrier, a photo lacquer layer on the disc is exposed simultaneously to an information signal and a signal which after subsequent etching of the disc provides a guidance groove for a play-back scanning element. Linearly polarized laser beam 31 is split by a polarization separator P31 into part beams 32, 33. Part beam 32 is transmitted via mirrors Sp31, Sp33 to modulator M which intensity modulates the beam with information signals to be recorded and the modulated output is passed via crossed cylindrical lenses L31, L32, which change the beam to one of elliptical crosssection, and mirrors Sp34, Sp32 to a second polarization separator P32. Part beam 33 which has a circular cross-section is also directed via mirrors Sp31, Sp35, Sp36 and Sp32 to the separator P32 where the beams are recombined, Fig. 3B, and focused via lenses L34, L35, mirror Sp37 and lens L36 on a photo lacquer layer in plane E33 of the disc P. As the disc rotates the head E32 moves along a radius of the disc to expose a spiral track having the form shown in Fig. 1a in which the continuous spine is produced by circular part beam 33 and the laterally extended rounded portions by the information modulated elliptical beam 32.
