Abstract
1461441 Protective devices XENEX CORP 29 Jan 1974 [29 Jan 1973] 04099/74 Heading H2K A test circuit checks the correct functioning of a presence detecting system, which system comprises a sensor 12 which detects a change in capacitance in a region over a machine worktable 10 when something is introduced or withdrawn from the region, any such change unbalancing the oscillator fed capacitance bridge formed by the region and capacitors 22, 16 and 18, and causing a signal to pass from the differential amplifier 32 via a demodulator 34, logic circuitry 46 and flip-flops 56, 58 and 60 to drivers 64, 66 which energize relays 68 and 70 to switch off the machine, the test circuit comprising a timer 48 which cyclically applies a signal to the differential amplifier 32 simulating bridge unbalance and to the logic circuitry 46 and flip-flops 52, 54 to condition them to respond to this simulated signal, the test circuit being so arranged that if the system does not respond correctly the machine is switched off and an indicator indicates a fault in the system.
