Abstract

1461418 Vehicle seat/bed conversion RICHARD HOLDSWORTH CONVERSIONS Ltd 3 May 1974 19467/74 Heading A4J [Also in Division B7] A seat to bed conversion, adapted for use in a vehicle wherein a housing E protrudes into the interior space, comprises a bench seat whose backrest is articulated, the movable upper portion 5b being provided with a hingedly secured flap 9 which over-lies the housing E when the arrangement is used as a seat. To convert the arrangement to a bed Fig. 3 (not shown) the upper backrest portion 5b and the flap 9 are folded forwardly to form a horizontal extension of the top of the housing E, the free end of the flap 9 being supported (e.g. by legs or an article of furniture). Conveniently the backrest portion 5b is supported in its upright position by the housing E and in its horizontal position by armrests 4. Cushion 10 may normally lie between flap 9 and the housing, and may be used in conjunction with removable cushions 2 and 12 as a matress.
