Abstract

1461052 Piezoelectric crystal assemblies MULLARD Ltd 25 April 1975 17281/75 Headings H1E and H1R One or more piezoelectric elements are mounted on a plastic laminate printed circuit board 1 with electrically conductive circuit 3 on one surface; the tracks 4 being of, e.g. copper on phenol formaldehyde impregnated paper or epoxy resin impregnated glass fibre. A multimorph piezo crystal 5 of, e.g. ferroelectric ceramic coated externally with silver layers 6, 6<SP>1</SP> is staked through the track 4 of the laminate so as to break the track and draw the ends into the hole formed in the laminate, so as to contact the silver layers. The penetrating end of the element 5 may be tapered. Alternatively a piezoelectric element may be forced into a hole of the lamina of smaller diameter to protrude from the opposite face thereof, and the free end of the element may be similarly fixed to another printed circuit board.
