Abstract
1461008 X-ray tubes MACHLETT LABORATORIES Inc 30 Oct 1974 [19 Nov 1973] 46985/74 Heading H1D A rotating anode X-ray tube has a rotor structure including a first annular member 52, and a target structure including a second annular member 48 attached to member 52 by screw threaded fasteners 50, axially extending nosepiece 56 and target disc 28, wherein members 48 and 52, fasteners 50 and nosepiece 56 all have coefficients of expansion within the range of 51 Î 10<SP>-7</SP>/‹ C. to 79 Î 10<SP>-7</SP>/‹ C. from 30‹ to 600‹ C. Imbalance and associated vibration and noise for example is reduced. The annular members and fasteners may be of Fe-Ni-Co alloys such as KOVAR (Registered Trade Mark) and the nosepiece may be of Mo or an alloy of Ti, Zr and Mo. Materials used preferably have low thermal conductivity and high yield strength at elevated temperatures and low vapour pressures. Also shown is inductively rotated shaft 30 mounted by ball bearings 32 within cylinder 34, rotor skirt 46 being secured to member 48, member 52 being brazed to shaft portion 54, and nosepiece 56 brazed to member 48. Central bore 62 provides a heat dam reducing conductivity to the structure and ball bearings. Prior art materials are detailed.
