Abstract

1460949 Riveting RIVETING SYSTEMS Ltd 6 Feb 1975 [30 April 1974] 18920/74 Heading B3U A blind riveter comprises a channel shaped body 1 containing a jawcase 3, a jaw 4 pivotally mounted (at 5) in the jawcase 3 for clamping a mandrel of a blind rivet against the jawcase 3, a handle 6 pivotally connected to the body 1 (at 8) and the jawcase 3 (at 7), a hole 14 in the body 1 through which rivets can pass and a wire spring 9 flexible about a pin 12 and secured at one end to the body 1 at 10 and abutting a projection 11 of the jaw 4 at its other end. In use, the handle 6 is closed to cause the jaw 4 to pivot about a pin 5 whereby a mandrel of a blind rivet which has been inserted through the hole 14 is trapped between teeth 15 on the jaw 4 and the U-shaped jawcase 3. Upon further movement of the handle 6, the mandrel is pulled to set the rivet.
