Abstract

1460940 Mixing machine BAKER PERKINS CHEMICAL MACHINERY Ltd 16 Oct 1975 [22 Oct 1974] 45586/74 Heading B1C A mixing machine comprises, within a mixing chamber 1 a central core 10, a first mixing element 8 adapted to sweep the surface of the core, a second mixing element 6, 7 adapted to sweep the wall of the chamber and a pin 11 extending parallel to the axis of the core in a space between the mixing elements, each mixing element including at least one helically extending member. The blades 6, 7 are of opposite hand and the mixing element 8 includes portions of opposite hand connected by a semicircular collar. The mixing chamber 1 is cantilevered from a frame 2, and is of generally U-shape having an opening 3 which in use is sealed by means of a cover 4, the chamber 1 being rotatable about the axis of the core to bring the opening 3 to a convenient point for charging or discharge of materials. Alternatively the cover 4 may have openings for charging of materials into the chamber. More than one pin 11 may be used and means for heating or cooling the mix may be provided in the core 10 or chamber 1. In an alternative construction the machine is operated on a vertical axis the mixing chamber comprising a removable and interchangeable bowl.
