Abstract

1460598 Filters PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 8 March 1974 [10 March 1973] 10543/74 Heading H3U A U.H.F filter, which rejects a channel whose width is less than 10<SP>-4</SP> times the frequency of that channel, comprises phase shifting means in parallel with one or more surface wave delay lines between input E and output A. As shown in Fig. 4 the phase shifting means may be constituted by an RC network 4,5 whose output may be adjusted in amplitude and phase. Alternatively the phase shifting means may comprise a further surface wave line whose delay is much shorter than the other delay line(s). When a plurality of substantial delay lines are provided the filter characteristic in the neighbourhood of the rejection frequency can be influenced. The substantial delay line shown in Fig. 3 includes an input interdigital transducer having a first set of fingers 1 which emits waves in both directions and is spaced at a distance of #/4 from a further set of fingers 1<SP>1</SP> which acts as a reflector. Output transducer 2, 2<SP>1</SP> has a similar configuration.
