Abstract

1460351 Centrifugal casting machines RHEINSTAHL AG 29 March 1974 [4 April 1973] 14181/74 Heading B3F A centrifugal casting machine having apparatus 4 for inserting and holding a core 11 in the mould (3), is provided with a core transfer device comprising a seating plate 9 for the core 11, the plate 9 being movable axially and being located coaxially opposite a core-receiving mandrel 8 when the apparatus 4 is in its swungout position. In use, a core 11 is placed on the plate 9 and held thereon by applying a vacuum to the nozzles 12. When the apparatus 4 has been moved to its swung-out position, the plate 9 is moved towards it and the core transferred to the mandrel 8 by applying compressed air to the nozzles 12. The apparatus 4, together with its supporting arm (5), is then pivoted and moved axially by a cylinder (6) to insert the core 11 into the mould (3). The core transfer device may be provided with a blowing device 14 for cleaning the mandrel 8. In an embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), two core transfer devices are provided and are mounted in a carriage (15) movable along a frame (16) above a mould carriage (la) provided with two moulds and two apparatuses 4.
