1460152 Knife guide W J F TOLCHER 10 July 1974 [10 July 1973] 32711/73 Heading B4B A guide for a cutter blade for cutting e.g. wallpaper comprises a bar 10 having two right angularly disposed outer surfaces with a guide slot 11 therealong at their junction, the slot being adapted to receive and guide a cutter blade 13. As shown in Fig. 1, the guide is formed from a length of angle-section bar in which the slot 11 is formed, a handle 12 being provided on one leg of the section. In a modification, Fig. 3, the bar can be formed from two triangular-section bars connected together at each end by screws via a strip 16; the thickness of the slot is determined by spacers. Two plates 17 are hinged to the ends of the respective bars and are in the folded position as shown in Fig. 3 when cutting the lower edge of wallpaper. The plates may be unfolded and used as a means of squaring up the slot 11 relative to the edge of the sheet of material to be cut, Fig. 4 (not shown). In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the facing surfaces of the slot are each formed with grooves 14 for accommodating studs secured to a knife holder thereby preventing the knife from being withdrawn from the bar. The knife blade can be replaced by a rotary disc cutter.
