Abstract

1459895 Driving arrangements for dynamoelectric machines LUCHAIRE SA 23 May 1974 [24 May 1973 29 Nov 1973] 23144/74 Heading H2A [Also in Division F2] A clutch 5 on the output side of an electric motor is, on the one hand, fitted to the motor output shaft 2 and, on the other, itself fitted with an output shaft 19, the shaft 19 and outer mounting holes 32 of the clutch frame 28 being exactly complementary, in terms of dimensions and locating features, to the motor output shaft 2 and outer mounting holes 3 of the motor casing. Hence a standardized fitment for the motor alone will equally fit the motor and clutch unit combination. The clutch, as shown a power clutch, is secured to the motor shaft 2 by means of a split conical cotter 11 and to the output shaft 19 by means of an eccentrically located bolt 20, a mounting plate 22 and an intervening stack of resilient discs 23. The clutch frame comprises parallel angle members 28, radial arms 27, end rings 29, 33 and a closure disc 34. In another embodiment (Fig. 4) a switch (45) for automatically stopping the motor in the event of the output shaft 19 ceasing to rotate is maintained in a closed condition, therefore allowing the motor to operate, by the centrifugal force of rotating weights (44) overcoming the force of springs (40) acting to open the switch. The "centrifugal" structure is located between the clutch and the outer bearing 26. The clutch shell 5 has cooling fins (5a).
