Abstract
1459545 Iron chelates DABEER SA 29 July 1974 [28 July 1973] 33357/74 Heading C2C A chelate of iron with a phenolic derivative of the formula in which R 1 and R 2 are each COOM or CH 2 OH, but only one of R 1 and R 2 may be CH 2 OH; n is from 2 to 10; X 1 , X 2 , X 3 , and X 4 are each a hydrogen atom or a substituent; and M is a hydrogen atom or an alkali or alkaline earth metal, or ammonium. X 1 , X 3 and X 4 may each be a substituent which has no preferential reaction with secondary amines or primary alcohols, for example a methyl, sulphonic acid, nitro, chloro or carboxylic acid group. X 2 is preferably a methyl, sulphonic acid, carboxylic acid, primary alcohol (CH 2 OH) or chloro group, n is preferably 2 or 3, are prepared by reacting an appropriate phenolic derivative and a ferric salt in an aqueous medium.
