Abstract

1459418 Aerating liquids REED INTERNATIONAL Ltd 16 Sept 1974 [25 Sept 1973] 44847/73 Heading B1C A porous diffuser 2 is supplied by a body 10 and a seal is effected by a ring 14 between the internal surface of the depending peripheral rim 23 of the diffuser and a facing surface of the body 10, which also provides a locating ledge for the sealing rim. The diffuser is mounted on a pipe 1 by an element having a boss 4, and a flange 5 which is oval in plan and can be manipulated through the air outlet hole in the pipe. An outer sleeve 6 locates at its lower edge in the air inlet hole and has a groove which cooperates with a rib 8 on the boss 4 to prevent relative rotation; the sleeve 6 and element 4, 5 are then clamped together by the supporting body 10 to which the diffuser is secured by cap 18. The pipe and diffuser supports are made of plastics material and the flanges 5, 7 may be solvent welded to the pipe.
