Abstract
1459386 Infra-red tracking PHILCO-FORD CORP 13 April 1965 15863/65 Heading H4D The infra-red radiation from the target is focused to form an image on the photo-electric cathode 14 of an image converter 15, from which an electron beam emanates. The beam is focused and nutated by a magnetic field produced by programmed deflection coils 17, 18 so that a further image traces a circular path on the fluorescent output screen 16. The optical image so formed is focused on to a quadrature type radiant energy sensitive device 25 which is divided into separate zones, the relative durations of the signals from which indicate the angular position of the target about the optical axis. The target radiation is modulated and both yaw and pitch information is provided.
