Abstract

1459057 Tethered helicopters DORNIER GmbH 11 Feb 1975 [20 March 1974] 5764/75 Headings B7G and B7W A tethered helicopter has a rigid baseplate 12 from which a payload 26, e.g. radar or sensors, is suspended, a drive uint 14, 16 mounted on the baseplate, and a partially-cylindrical, downwardly-flared, hollow landing cone 30 through which the mooring cable 42 extends. The drive unit is housed in a tapered shell 22. The landing cone is formed of glass-fibre-reinforced plastics and has a slotted landing ring 38 which may be provided with cushioning devices (not shown). A set-down switch 46 is provided to switch off the drive unit upon landing.
