Abstract

1458706 Electric component assemblies DECCA Ltd 12 May 1975 [14 May 1974] 21288/74 Heading H1R [Also in Division F2] An, e.g. rectangular microwave circuit board comprises a planar, e.g. alumina dielectric substrate 7 with a gounded coating 8 on its lower face and a microwave strip conductor circuit on its upper face, the coatings being of, e.g. gold. The substrate is edge supported (Figs. 1, 2) on a flat internal ledge 2 of support 3 to define a cavity 6 thereunder. The support is a metal box having base 5 and ledged sidewalls 4, the substrate being pressed against the ledge into good electrical contact by plural spring clips 9. A conductive spring shim may be inserted between the grounded coating and the ledge surface, comprising an elongate strip with alternate upward and downward directed tongues along an edge interposed between the board and the ledge around its internal periphery (Figs. 3, not shown). The shim may be of Be-Cu alloy. The ledge is replaceable by a frame of conductive rubber, corrugated or foamed metal, and the spring clips are replaceable by springs compressed by the lid (not shown) of the box support. The ledge may be double sided (Fig. 4, not shown) to support two similar circuit boards on underlying shims.
