Abstract
1458453 Automatic video disc player TED BILDPLATTEN AG 14 Aug 1974 [14 Aug 1973 29 Aug 1973] 35799/74 Heading G5R In an automatic record player for video disc records of foil material, the records in their individual sleeves are stacked in the changer and the lowermost record in its sleeve is advanced to the playback position where the record is retained and the sleeve is returned to a waiting position from which when the disc has been played the sleeve is again advanced to reinsert the record in the sleeve, the record and sleeve are then routed from the playback position to a second, played stack of records and the next lowermost record of the first stack is advanced in its sleeve to the play-back position. The records 3 in their sleeves 12 are stacked 14 in the storage part 2 of the player on members 15 and 16 and the change process is controlled during a revolution of a cam member 17. Assuming commencement of play-back the cam member is triggered into operation and a knife member 18 is pivoted so that its blade enters between the lowermost and next lowermost records of the stack whilst member 16 is moved outwards thereby dropping the lowermost record in its sleeve to a tilted position in which an aperture in the sleeve is engaged by a moving member 25 mounted on drive belt 24. The member is driven first to the right to move the sleeve and record off support member 15 to a position substantially in the same plane as the playback surface 4 and is then advanced to the left to move the sleeve and record to the playback position. At this position a finger 13 engages the record and holds it whilst the direction of drive of the member 25 is again reversed and the sleeve is drawn away from the playback position to a waiting position 33 in the storage part 2. The record is moved by entrainment member 5 into engagement with the record drive element so that the record rotates on an air cushion above surface 4 and pick up member 8a of the pressure scanning type is now lowered and driven along a radial path of the record. At the end of record play an "end" signal is generated which actuates the cam member to commence record change. Initially the pick up member is raised and moved outwardly to its start position and the entrainment member 5 is raised to disconnect the record drive. Member 13 is now actuated to brake the record and the moving member 25 and the record sleeve are again driven to the left with the sleeve mouth being opened to receive the record. The direction of drive of the member 25 is again reversed to move the sleeve and record to the waiting position 33 and then the support member 37 is pivoted to release one edge of the record sleeve which drops into an inclined position in the record removal position 40. Sliders 43, 44 now engage and push the adjacent side of the record sleeve so that this is moved off the moving member 25 and the sleeve drops into the position 40. The sequence is then repeated for the next lowermost record. The cam member 17 is formed in two parts normally coupled together but which can be uncoupled by operation of an externally operated push button so that a part of the member which controls the movement of the record sleeve can be held stationary. By this means a record can be replayed.
