Abstract
1458082 Fuel injection pumps MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AG 7 March 1974 [9 March 1973] 10358/74 Heading F1A In fuel injection apparatus wherein pumping pistons are rotatable in unison to vary the injection quantity, each piston 13 (only one of which is shown) is rotatable directly or via a rack 11 by linkage 6, 7 connected to a common rotatable or rectilinearly movable drive member, each linkage being formed from two links 6, 7 joined by a pivot 16 and relatively positioned by a tension spring 18. As shown the drive member is a rotatable shaft 1 and the spring 18 urges the links 6, 7 into abutting contact at surfaces 17. The link 6 is connected to the control shaft 1 by a pivot pin 5, directly, or through the intermediary of an element 2 having a surface 8 against which the link 6 is urged by the spring 18. A block 14 carried by the end of the link 7 is slidably disposed between guideways 15 on the rack 11, whereby during normal operation rotation of the shaft 1 causes longitudinal displacement of the rack. In the event of a piston 13 or its rack 11 jamming, continued adjustment of the other racks is allowed since the spring 18 of the jammed rack extends to allow either separation of the surfaces 17 (clockwise rotation of the shaft) or separation of surface 8 from the link 6 (anti-clockwise rotation).
