Steering and balancing.-The compensating- planes c for reducing the pressure required to operate the ailerons b are arranged near the leading edge of the main plane in order to counteract the distortion of the main plane caused by the ailerons. The planes c are pivoted at d, and provided with arms f connected by rods g to the ailerons. If the ailerons are at the leading edge, the compensating-planes are placed at the trailing edge.
