Abstract

1457426 Foetal electrode introducers ROCKET OF LONDON Ltd 19 Feb 1974 [7 March 1973] 11042/73 Heading ASR A foetal electrode introducer comprises a first tube 1 for insertion through the cervical opening until a cap 3 thereon engages the foetus, and a second tube 2 for insertion axially by means of a handle 8 through the tube 1 and halving a slot 6 at its distal end for holding the cup of an electrode whose leads extend through the tube 2, a radial pin on the tube 2 then engaging a helical slot 5 in a collar 4 on tube 1 so that relative rotation of tubes 1, 2 causes the electrode to be urged into the foetus. The tubes 1, 2 may be of brass or plastics and the slot 5 may have an axial lead-in portion. In a modification, tube 1 is shaped to follow a pelvic curve and tube 2 is flexible to follow this curve when tube 2 is rotated.
