Abstract

1457286 Image intensifier tubes DELFT ELECTRONISCHE PRODUCTEN BV 29 Nov 1973 [22 Dec 1972] 55365/73 Heading HID An image intensifier device comprises one or more intensifier tubes moulded in a plastic body 2 in a plastics housing 1, the housing having a first cover 12 and there being a second cover 18 at the opposite end slidable relative to the housing, optical windows 4 and 6 fixed to the tube(s), means being provided at one end of the housing to maintain a predetermined distance in an axial direction between the outer surface of the optical window at that end and the outer surface of the cover fixed to the housing at that end, the cover and optical window at the opposite end being freely movable together in an axial direction relative to the housing. The means includes ring 8 with shoulder 10 cooperating with a flange 9 on the intensifier tube to form a chamber 11 filled with plastics. Ring 13 of rigid plastics material rests against the inner wall of the housing, a glass plate 17 being between the ring and cover 18. The axial distance between the outer surface 19 of cover 12 and the outer surface 7 of window 6 will only be influenced by the small dimensioned plastic volume in chamber 11 under the influence of specified external influences, so that the distance between the optical window and a related optical system has a substantially constant value. 10 Á changes are mentioned. The mounting at end 3 allows axial movement. The mountings at the respective ends of the tubes may be reversed.
