Abstract

1457018 Y-Type zeolites TORAY INDUSTRIES Inc 10 May 1974 [25 May 1973] 20665/74 Heading C1A Crystalline sodium aluminosilicates of the faujasite type, more specifically 'Y-type' zeolites, are prepared by mixing in the appropriate proportions a silica hydrogel with a B.E.T surface area of 190-500 sq.m./gm with an alumina source and a sodium source in an aqueous medium, standing the resulting aqueous sodium aluminosilicate at 0-50‹C for 1-72 hrs and thence heating at a crystallisation temperature for from 10-96 hours preferably at 80-120‹C. Sodium aluminate, aluminium trihydrate or aluminium hydroxychloride can be used as the alumina source and suitable sodium sources may be selected from sodium aluminate, hydroxide or carbonate.
